The international conference of the Euro-African platform on poverty and migration, ECOPPAM, which brought together various civil society actors from diverse backgrounds, has concluded in a memorable fashion. The closing ceremony featured a series of speeches following the presentation of the conference’s organizational context by Bassirou TANDJIGORA, the secretary of ECOPPAM. He presented the summary of the reflection workshops and proposed solutions to be implemented in the fight against poverty and migration.

In his address, TANDJIGORA emphasized that “the issue of social exclusion and irregular migration is not only crucial for the present but also shapes our future.” To achieve this, he stressed the importance of providing hope to those in need by investing in education, health, employment, and peace. The Chairperson of ECOPPAM, Carmen GABA, expressed gratitude to the government of Benin for authorizing and supporting the conference. She also praised the enthusiasm and commitment demonstrated by the participants throughout the workshop, highlighting the informative nature of the exchanges. In conclusion, the president called on all participants to collaborate in action to combat the growing threat posed by irregular migration to public order.

Subsequently, the Director-General of the Department of Migration and Human Rights (DGPD), Cyriaque EDON, extended thanks to all participants for their involvement in the various activities and discussions. He assured participants that their concerns would be conveyed to the Minister of State so that appropriate measures could be taken to address the issues raised by the thematic focus. While anticipating a new edition, representatives from the countries pledged to continue their efforts for a better world.
