On the morning of Wednesday, October 11, 2023, participants in the international conference of the Euro-African platform on poverty and migration (ECOPAM) had the opportunity to engage in discussions on the issue of migration.

The discussions began with a question-and-answer session focused on the previous day’s presentations, highlighting topics such as migration, its socio-economic consequences, and perspectives to address this challenge. It emerged from the exchanges that each country is implementing policies to limit migration flows. However, the phenomenon remains persistent. This led to in-depth reflections on the need to redirect migration towards experiences of pleasure and leisure tourism.

As a solution, Mrs. Khady Sakho, former president of ADEPT, called on leaders to delve into the reasons why young Africans choose immigration. She also urged decision-makers to find solutions to curb this phenomenon. Regarding issues related to rural exodus, the representative from Tanzania wishes for each state to implement policies aimed at equalizing living conditions between urban and rural areas. This includes building infrastructure, revising educational conditions, and promoting professional integration.
