Improving the synergies between social protection and public financial management

On 1 December 2020, Alias Onyadon, ECOPPAM Coordinator and Fintan Farrell ECOPPAM support person, participated in a virtual conference to launch the program “Improving the synergies between social protection and public financial management”. The Programme is implemented by the European Union, in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF and the Global Coalition for Social Protection Floors, the programme aims to strengthen social protection systems and ensure sustainable financing while improving public financial management.

The Conference was Moderated by a high-level panel consisting of representatives of DEVCO, European Commission, the International Labour Office (ILO), UNICEF and the Global Coalition for Social Protection Floors. This virtual conference was attended by the partners involved in the project and some associations working to promote fundamental social rights.

It should be noted that the program currently covers 18 countries in different regions of the world and African countries such as Angola, Burkina Faso,  Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo plus others waiting to be part of the program.

The role of social protection especially during the covid19 pandemic and beyond was discussed by the participants and all these topics are of particular interest to ECOPPAM in its approach to learning and exchange of experiences and practices.
