Mr. Oumar Diop, representative of the African Union and Coordinator of the AUC-ILO-IOM-ECA Joint Programme on Governance of Labour Migration for development and integration, joined the ECOPPAM inaugural meeting online today. He presented the AU Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want. It is the continent’s strategic framework that aims to deliver on its goal for inclusive and sustainable development. He stressed the importance of family policy amongst a range of wholistic policies needed. He encouraged ECOPPAM to become active in ECOSOCC which provides an opportunity for African Civil Society to play an active role in contributing to AU’s principles, policies and programmes.
The meeting ended with a call that ECOPPAM strives to ensure ‘voices from the ground’ enter into the policy spaces and shapes responses to address poverty and inequality. Mr. Ales Onyadon, ECOPPAM coordinator thanked The Benin Ministry, GIZ, UNDP and RODD for hosting so well our meeting and setting us on the road to develop an organisation to reach our vision.
